Drinking from the rim
Carter Move keeps the drinking edge separate from its transport lid. Unscrew the lid to sip from the thin rim, with the removable splash guard sitting below it. This leaves the rim open around the guard, without a small drinking slot in the lid.
The ceramic coating covers the inside of the stainless steel body. That makes the surface touching the drink a distinct part of the construction, alongside the vacuum insulation between the walls.
A lid you take off
The Move lid closes the mug for transport; the splash guard reduces splashing while the lid is off. These are separate jobs. At a desk there is usually somewhere to put the lid. On a crowded train, keeping track of that loose part takes more attention.
For someone who wants a mug to close between destinations and open at a table, that is a straightforward arrangement. A thumb-operated lid is better suited to frequent short sips when one hand is occupied.
The 12 oz format
The selected Matte Black version holds 355 ml. Its 77 mm body diameter is a useful measurement for a bag pocket or cup holder. Think about the coffee you usually finish in one sitting before choosing a larger mug that adds height to the same routine.
