A coffee kit for a room with a kettle
How to plan the water, preparation space and packing around a small manual espresso maker.
Start with the place you will brew
A small espresso maker fits in a bag more easily than a complete coffee routine. Before adding accessories, picture the room: a kettle, a firm surface for preparation and somewhere to rinse the used basket. A hotel desk beside a kettle offers a different setup from a bench far from water.
Picopresso uses hot water supplied from elsewhere. If the destination already has a kettle, packing another water heater adds a large object for a job the room can do. Keep the brewer and its preparation pieces together, then allow a separate space for the coffee and grinder.
Decide what you want in the cup
A short espresso and a full travel mug are different amounts of coffee. Brew into a small cup when you want to see and stop the shot, then transfer it to a larger mug if you are making a longer drink. This also gives you room to add water to taste without filling the brewer beyond its intended capacity.
Carter Move is the container for the finished drink in this setup. Its removable lid suits coffee carried to another room and opened at a table. It does not need to become a mounting platform for the brewer.
Make room for the return trip
Lay out the entire kit at home, including the cup. Group the dry preparation pieces together and give the used basket a place to cool and dry after rinsing. Wacaco recommends drying Picopresso parts separately. Pack a small cloth for the work surface, apart from the clean coffee equipment.
For a short stay, repeat a coffee and grinder setting you already know. Trying a different bean, dose and grinder position together creates extra decisions in a room with limited space. A practice brew also shows which accessories deserve space in the bag.
