Choose the travel mug by its lid
A removable lid, a drinking slot and a straw create different routines, even on similar insulated mugs.
Where will you open it?
Think about the moment you drink, as well as the journey. A mug opened at a desk has a nearby place for its lid. On a train or while carrying another bag, the same loose part needs a hand or pocket. Capacity alone will not tell you which arrangement is easier.
The standard Carter Move lid comes off completely. Below it, a splash guard lets you drink from the rim while reducing splashes. Closing the screw lid prepares the mug for transport; leaving only the guard in place gives you an open drinking surface. The guard does not replace the lid.
Consider the opening motion
A sliding lid suits frequent sips with one hand. Fellow's separate Slide Lid opens with a thumb and fits the Carter Move body. It changes how you drink from the mug: the lid remains attached and the opening is smaller than the exposed rim.
Choose according to the routine you repeat. Someone who carries coffee to a table may prefer a lid they remove once. Someone who takes short sips between stops may value keeping it attached. A straw suits sipping without lifting the mug and adds another part to wash.
Match the size to the coffee
Measure the amount you normally pour into a cup at home. The 12 oz Carter Move holds 355 ml; compare that with your usual drink and the space in the bag. Use the body diameter when judging a pocket or holder, and the height when checking clearance under a coffee machine.
Look at the parts you will clean each evening. A lid with a moving closure needs access around that mechanism. Fellow provides separate disassembly instructions for its Slide Lid. Choose a closure you can readily take apart and put back together as part of the daily wash.
