A place for the laptop to return to
The mStand works well as a permanent part of a desk used by a portable computer. Its platform stays in one position, so arriving with the laptop involves placing it on the stand and reconnecting the cables already there.
A separate keyboard and pointing device give the raised laptop a useful role as a screen. Leave enough desk depth for those controls in front of the stand; raising the computer does not make its keyboard disappear.
The space around the aluminum
The open area beneath the platform can hold a keyboard when the desk is idle. The rear cable opening routes leads toward the laptop, though each connector still needs enough slack to reach its port.
Allow for the computer extending beyond the stand itself. A paper rectangle measuring 253 by 190 mm can mark the stand's footprint on a crowded desk before you decide where everything goes.
Choosing a fixed stand
At 1.46 kg, this is a desk fixture rather than an item to pack with the laptop each morning. Choose its fixed height for a setup that stays put. A stand with adjustable height or a folding frame serves a different arrangement, especially when the whole workspace must go into a bag.
